Support and Advice
There is support and advice available to you and your children if you (or someone you know) are experiencing any of the following from a partner, ex-partner or family member:
- Hitting, punching, kicking, slapping.
- Rape, sexual abuse.
- Preventing you from having contact with family and friends.
- Controlling the way you dress, behave or your appearance
- Ridiculing, criticising.
- Withholding money.
How we can help you
We take reports of domestic abuse very seriously. We will contact you within 24 hours of a reported incident. Thereafter, we will work with you to ensure:
- Your home is secure.
- Repairs following any incident are carried out within 24 hours.
- You get appropriate support, advice and information to allow you to make decisions about your future.
- Support is provided to enable you to remain in your home.
- You are considered for a move if you are at risk of harm by remaining in your home
We will:
- Agree an action plan with you that will include how often we will contact you while your case is open.
- Provide interpreting and translation services for you if needed.
- Meet you at a place where you feel safe to talk.
- Provide information on agencies and resources that can provide support.
Hexagon will work in partnership with other agencies to help you access appropriate support and advice. This will include attending multi-agency risk assessment conferences to advocate on your behalf.
If you witness domestic abuse
You may be worried that a neighbour or friend is experiencing domestic abuse. You can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers or report it directly to the police online, or call 101.

Agencies that can support you
There are agencies who can help you with legal and housing advice and support.
Police: If you need urgent assistance, ring 999 for police help. The police can come to your home if you need urgent help and arrange medical care if needed. The police work alongside highly trained non-police advisers who can assist with aftercare for you and your family.
Domestic Abuse National Domestic Abuse Helpline: An expert advisor will listen to whatever you want to tell her. She’ll offer confidential and non-judgemental information, and if you’d like, help you make a plan.
