Love London Working Conference 7th Dec 2023 @ Olympic Stadium

Resident Beverley Jackson’s achievements on the Love London Working project were recognised at the project’s celebration event on December 7th 2023. When she won the project’s Journey of Success award.

Beverley was first referred to LLW in June 2021. She is a single parent and wanted support to look for part time work in healthcare, but she struggled with motivation and confidence.

She had limited IT skills and needed a laptop to look for work. She was often using her phone to search for jobs, which she found difficult. She also provided care for her elderly mother, whilst supporting two adult sons that lived at home with her.

Beverley was supported our employment team to get a laptop through our laptop borrowing scheme. We also provided IT skills assessment and matched her to a Digital Champion who provided 1- 1 digital training 1 hour a week to help her improve her digital skills.

Her confidence and motivation began to grow, she left the house more and began looking for work again. Her job search was successful, and she was offered a part-time job providing support to a young girl with Downs Syndrome. She has been working in her role for over 9 months now and she is receiving In Work Progression so she can further increase her income.

Beverley said, “My advisor helped me with my confidence and getting my passport. I found a job as a support worker. Thank you for all your help.”
