Julie has been a Hexagon tenant for many years and initially engaged with our employment support in March 2020 following a redundancy. Her employment advisor helped her apply for a role

with L&Q, which she got an interview for, but the role was withdrawn due to Covid lockdown. She continued to receive support with supporting statements, updating her CV and accessing vacancies.

She secured employment, as an Account Advisor for a housing association and then progressed into another role as a Customer Service Advisor.

At the end of 2023, Julie became unemployed again, she contacted us because she was getting interviews for many of the jobs she applied for but failing to secure a job offer. This began to impact her confidence. Her employment advisor did some interview coaching with her and forwarded her for a mock

interview with Murray Birrell, one of our contractors. They tailored the interview to a role she had an upcoming interview for. Nerves got the better of Julie and the mock interview did not go well so the Director, Sam Field and Directors’ PA Nicola Adamson spent 1.5 hours doing some 1-1 coaching instead. They provided detailed written feedback for Julie shortly after this.

Julie’s employment advisor further updated her CV and forwarded her for a role within Hexagon. She was shortlisted for interview and met with her advisor again to spend time going through Murray Birrell’s interview feedback and prepare for interview.

Julie gave a brilliant interview, and following a short training session started a one month temporary role as our Stock Improvement Administrator in March 2023. Julie did so well that her contract has been extended for 12 months and she’ll be working across the property services team from April 2024.

Julie said: “Thank you for your help and support. It is great to have the 12 month contract.”
