Introduction

We have produced this Handbook to give you as much useful information as possible about your home, your tenancy, and about Hexagon and our services. So whether you are new to Hexagon or an existing Hexagon tenant moving to a new home, we hope you find the Handbook useful. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, or need more detailed information, please contact our Customer Services Centre on 020 8778 6699.

Some Facts about Hexagon

Hexagon Housing was formed in 1990, but our origins go back to the 1960s. We have around 4,300 houses and flats in South East London. Most of our homes are self-contained, and for single people or families; we also have special housing for people with extra support needs. A number of our homes are specially built or adapted for people with disabilities. About 300 of our homes are managed on our behalf by housing co-operatives – which means that the residents manage the homes and tenancies themselves – and by other housing groups.

Our Aim

We aim to meet housing and care needs in South East London, and to assist with economic and social regeneration. Our offices are in Sydenham SE26. We also aim to provide Hexagon tenants with a high level of service through a telephone Customer Services Centre, and, when necessary, a home visiting service.

The Board of Management

Overall control of Hexagon is with the Board of Management. This is a group of 12 people from all sections of the community and includes some ‘specialists’ (such as accountants), as well as  4 members who are Hexagon tenants themselves. The Board meets regularly during the year and reports to members of the Association once a year at an Annual General Meeting. This meeting also elects the Board members.

The Staff

Hexagon employ around 154 staff in our office and in our care homes. We are an equal opportunities employer and our aim is that the workforce should reflect the communities where we work.
